pants and the next move

Where to begin???? Well, I can always begin with pants. She is growing up so fast! I know that is every mother's cliche line but really she is. Right before my very eyes she is constantly changing, learning new things and reaching new milestones. It really is hard to grasp sometimes. It's hard for your mind to keep up with how quickly she is adapting and changing.

Now is such a fun time. She is FINALLY starting to laugh and play games. Adam and I are very silly people so of course from the beginning we have been acting like total idiots in front of her trying to get some reaction. Until now, we were met with blank stares and sideways glances. Now we enjoy giggles and smiles:) It's even more funny when you can get her to "laugh" because it sound more like something off of Beavis and Butthead. I hate that show but it's the first thing that pops in my head when she laughs out loud. It sounds more like a low guttural growl but we're happy to have it!

My dad has been teaching her safety tips such as how to remove a pillow or sheet from her face in the case that she ever find herself in that situation (you have to know my dad, but this kind of activity is very intriguing and fun to him. He is very National Geographic meets Discovery Channel. I love it and I inherited this trait from him). He's been teaching her by making it a game and she smiles, laughs, and flails around eagerly the whole time. She's also learned to love the game peek-a-boo and watching us clap to songs (which we sing many and have made up many. Old McDonald has a lot of new animals on his farm that he used to not have.)

I absolutely adore going into her room in the mornings when she has woken up. She's in there kicking her legs wildly on the mattress and making her new vowel "oooooooo" and I'll say Addison? Where is Addison? Helllooooo? Can anybody find Addie? and then I walk to where she can see me and she has the BIGGEST grin on her face in anticipation. Usually she straightens her arms and legs out and says, "oooooooo" with eagerness. I absolutely cannot think of a better way to start my day. I am smiling before I even open her door.

Yesterday she went for her 6 month check-up. 17 pounds 10 ounces and 28 inches long!! She is in the 97th percentile for her height! She must be enjoying the homemade apple sauce and pear sauce I've been making her. Now we are going to start her on some veggies and then comes meat! We've been on the look out for some teeth but none so far. Her bottom gums have rounded out so they look like they are getting ready! She also got three shots and she was so brave. I am so glad that it looks like we are going to have a strong girl. She only cried on the third shot (which the nurse told us would burn pretty bad) and it was only for a minute. That's my girl!

In other news, we have sold our house!!!! Adam and I feel so blessed to have sold our house in three days of being on the market with the full asking price, especially in this economy. It's kind of an ironic story really. Adam bought the house we are living in about a year before we got engaged. Once we were married the reno began. We have completely renovated this house from top to bottom and we did it on a serious budget. It was only made possible by some great finds, a huge donation of free custom cabinets from a family member, and lots of blood, sweat, and tears. We have grown to enjoy our house the way that it is now but it is way too small to raise our family in.

We love going to open houses and seeing what is on the market and getting ideas for our house. We have been going to them for over four years so we have pretty much seen most of the houses that have been on the market in our area. We are always looking but have never been super serious about buying. Until the other day. About 2 weeks ago I went to an open house with Addie while Adam was at work. I didn't really want to go but I happened to be passing right by the house and decided to stop. I. fell. in. love. I wanted this house from the first time I saw it. I text Adam at work and told him about it and he was a little pessimistic. Our house isn't ready to put on the market, there's probably something wrong with it, we probably can't afford it if you love it so much (haha what does that say about me?), etc. I convinced him (lovingly of course) that I was dead serious about this house. In the four plus years that we've have been looking I have never found a house that had everything that I wanted in it that we could afford.

So, I called the Realtor that was showing the house and scheduled to see it with Adam the next day. He LOVED it! We were totally on the same page. Thankfully we had gotten pre-approved for a loan already so we made an offer that day contingent that our house sell also. The seller had 48 hours to respond. It was the most agonizing 48 hours. I started working to get our house ready to put on the market immediately. We hear from the realtor, The seller did not accept our offer because of the contingency. She wants someone who can close on the house with money in hand. BUMMER! But it doesn't stop me. I worked myself to death (heavily medicated with a slipped disc mind you) getting our house ready to put on the market. The realtor promises she will keep us up to date on what is going on with the house. Finally, with some help from Adam our house is ready for the market. We have two people see our house twice each with in the first 48 hours. On the third day we received the offer. The offer was for full price, the buyer offered to pay closing cost (almost unheard of), and he was forgoing asking for us to pay for a home warranty. You just don't get offers like this. We were pumped. Of course we accepted it. In the next breath our realtor informed us that the house that we both loved so much went under contract the night before. We were crushed. We wanted to celebrate and cry all at the same time. We got the deal of the century on our house all with the purpose of getting this house we loved so much and it was snatched up hours before we were able to put in another offer.

There still is a small glimmer of hope to this story but Adam and I are trying desperately not to put too much weight in it. The woman who is buying the house is military and has not received her orders yet so she may not be staying in the area. Long story short they close on this house in 8 days and if it doesn't go through then she has another five days to get her affairs in order. If she is unable to do that we have put in a back up offer. We will keep you updated. We know that God has a plan and if that isn't the house for us that the one that He has planned for us will be amazing. It still stings though and we are trying to keep ourselves busy packing and doing projects so as to not let it consume our thoughts. Pray for our next move!

right on the money

I'm going to provide a little background before I get into this story. Adam and I have been super busy doing things around the house trying to get it ready to put on the market. This process takes a lot longer when you have a 6 month old, a slipped disc, and a husband who works a 12 hour rotating swing shift. But we're getting it done and we're hoping to put it on the market next week. With that being said we are right here at the end of all of these little projects and we're are on our last push to wrap everything up. We've been running around like maniacs desperate to be finished with this ordeal.

OK, so yesterday morning we rented a carpet cleaner from Lowe's at 10:40am. If you have ever done this before you know that it has to be back at the store the following day at 10:40am or they charge you for an extra day. Upon renting the carpet cleaner the Lowe's employee informed us that if it wasn't clean when we returned it they would charge a $15 fee. Of course, Addie doesn't wake up this morning until 9:30 (which, trust me, I'm not complaining about but it just happened to be a little bit of a bummer in the present situation). I jump up and start rushing around trying to feed her, get myself presentable, etc. Adam has already come home from working the night shift and gone to sleep, so I have no help getting this done. I feed little toot, who also happens to not be interested in eating her food this morning but more interested in trying to get the newspaper that is on the other side of the table. It's 10:25am and all I need to do is to rinse out the carpet cleaner with the hose outside, load up Addie, and run it back to Lowe's. I take Addie and the Bumbo and put it on the walkway outside. I wheel the carpet cleaner out there and go around to get the hose so that I can spray it down. I turn the water on and begin to walk back to the cleaner, pulling the hose to unwind it from the spool. Because I was in a hurry I thought it faster just to continue to yank the hose as opposed to taking a moment to unwind it at the spicket. I can hear that the water is on but no water is coming out yet. I give it one more big yank and I feel the water immediately start to shoot out the hose. I gasp, and a big thick heavy stream of water comes shooting out of the hose....and lands directly on Addie's forehead. I dropped the hose and ran over to her and started wiping the water off of her face asking her if she was ok. All she did was make the cutest little "o" with her lips (like, "whoa that was cold and what was that? Mommy, is that supposed to happen when I sit outside?") and blinked wildly at me. I can't imagine what was going through her head but she was a trooper! Poor angel. Thankfully, I did get the cleaner back to Lowe's in time. When we walked in Addie's hair was still wet from our incident. Oh, bless.
